RBC is a long-time supporter of green-building research and innovation at SAIT
RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) was presented the President’s Partnership Award for its long-standing financial support of a variety of SAIT programs and projects including Green-Building Technology (GBT) research and student applied-research funding.
To be honoured with a SAIT President’s Partnership Award, a company must have made a long-term commitment to SAIT, demonstrated exemplary leadership, and formed a strategic alliance with SAIT that resulted in initiatives that advanced applied education, demonstrated innovation and supported student success.
Through its charitable foundation, RBC donated $750,000 towards GBT applied-research initiatives including the Innovative Student Projects Fund, a summer research assistant, and equipment for the Green Building Technologies Lab and Demonstration Centre (opening mid-2017). RBC’s support helped advance GBT’s applied-research objectives in improving energy consumption and production, design and testing new building envelope materials, sustainable waste and water practices, integration of renewable energy technologies, home energy management and monitoring, and public acceptance and awareness of green-building products and practices.
Other SAIT programs supported by RBC include the Chinook Lodge Resource Centre, which serves Indigenous students, and the SAIT Trojans’ award-winning Make Some Noise for Mental Health awareness project.
